Mumbai Saga review: John  Abraham, Emraan Hashmi film is a  jaded re-retread of familiar ground

Mumbai Legend Movie Review: In Sanjay Gupta’s better movies, the bad guys used to be more interesting and the actions used to be elegant. However, this movie by John Abraham-Emran Hashim is boring.

Mumbai Saga cast: John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi Mahesh Manjrekar, Prateik Babbar, Rohit Roy, Kajal Aggarwal, Suniel Shetty, Samir Soni, Shaad Randhawa, Gulshan Grover, Anjana Sukhani

Mumbai Saga director: Sanjay Gupta

What Is the Story About?

Just when I thought Bollywood was obsessed with heavy action dramas, in which heroes single-handedly beat 20 men in wear, legendary in Mumbai. If I can recommend a new title for this Sanjay Gupta movie, it will be "Dishum and Dishkiyan", because that's all there is to it. You removed your eyes from the screen for five seconds and someone was shot in the chest.

The first 20-30 minutes was nothing but John Abraham fighting the bad guys, his face painted red-sometimes splashed with blood, sometimes covered in the power of red peppers. However, if you are not the kind of person who likes to watch two hours of blood and Gore, then the legend of Mumbai can be a headache.
Inspired by real events, the legend of Mumbai took place in the 1990s when Mumbai was Mumbai, the land of Buchhaus and Bais. The film tells the story of an ordinary person, Amartya Rao (Abraham), who resorted to violence and turned into a threatening gangster. After Arjun was almost killed by a group of people, he dealt with the mafia and corrupt politicians. , Police and local thugs to protect his brother Aqiong (Prateik Babbar).

It's hard to ignore the "swing" of the film, which is dominated by male actors. Sunil Shetty appears in a short and impressive comedy as Sada Anna; Gulshan Grove as Nari Khan, Rao’s closest assistant; Amor Gupt appears as the cunning gangster Guy Dunde: Mahesh Manjerekar plays the role of King Bo. All these people, together, add a lot of gravity to the story.

Abraham carried the movie on his shoulders effortlessly. Emran Hashimi is on the point as encounter expert Vijay Savarkar. The confrontation scene between Hashimi and Abraham was quite "Paisavasur".

Babar, Rohit Roy and Samir Sony also played well and did a good job. I hope that the only two women on the list — Kajal Agarwal and Anjana Suhani — can also provide more in this male-dominated script. They are just bystanders. I also like the lovely brotherhood between Abraham and Babar. However, in the scene with Agarwal, Abraham seemed to struggle a bit, letting his emotional side take over.

Although the Mumbai Legend is more like a visual spectacle, all actions happen on the screen, but the heavyweight dialogue is equally impressive. Examples of these: "Kabhi suna hai ki andhere ne sawera hone nahi diya? Khatra agar uthaya na jaaye toh aur badh jaata hai. Dhokhe ki khasiyat hai ki dene wala aksar koi khaas hi hota hai. Kismat gaadi ki gear ki tarah hai magar time par badal lo toh zindag bhagne lagti hai."

Mumbai Saga is the story of a gangster who competes with the police. In the mid-1980s, Amartya Rao (John Abraham) lived with his family, including his father (Rajendra Gupta), younger brother Arjun (Hash Sharma) and wife Simma (Kajal Agarwal) in Mumbai. His family was selling vegetables on the street, and they had to pay the "Hafta" (bribe) to the mob in Gaydund (Amol Gupt). "One day, Arjun argued with a monster, and then threw Arjun off the bridge. Amartya saved Arjun in time before he was crushed under the train. So far, Amartya has decided not to He was involved with the gangster. However, he loved Arjun to death and the attack on him angered him. He single-handedly attacked Gaydonde’s hand and even cut off the hand of one of the goblins. Gaydonde worked in prison, He told the police to arrest Amartya. In addition, he kept Amartya in the same prison. Gaydonde’s accomplices attacked Amartya in the prison. Amartya single-handedly defeated them again. Dunde is now aware of the danger of Amati Asia Pacific. The next day, Amati was released on bail. The unofficial King Bau (Mahsh Manjerekar) of Mumbai also made this possible. Bowen Amartya Work for him and find a solution to Gaydond and his threats. Amartya will soon learn the skills of this industry. He also usurped Gaydond's territory between Dadar and Baikula. Gaydonde has no choice but to accept defeat. The story will be 12 years ahead of schedule. Arjun (Latik Babar) has grown up now, and Amatija sent him to England to protect him. At the same time, Suni Al Haitan (Samir Sonny) is an industrialist who owns a mill built by his ancestors. He wants to dismiss all factory workers, demolish the factory, and sell land for astronomical prices. He accepts Gaydon De's help expelled the miller. Bao told Amartya to prevent the realization of the Haitan Mill so that he could get the votes of the factory workers. Amartya met with Sunil and warned him of the terrible consequences. Suni He complained to Gaydonde about Amartya's trends. In retaliation, Gaydonde tried to kill Arjun, who was in Mumbai for a short visit. Arjun escaped without injury. Angry Amartya was here. Sunil Haitan ended in broad daylight. His widow Sonali (Anjana Suhani) went to the police headquarters and announced that she would reward the police who killed Amartya with 1 billion rupees. Vijay. Savarkar (Emran Hashmi) was interested in this proposal and decided that he would kill Amartya and what is possible. What happens next constitutes the rest of the movie.

The story of Sanjay Gupta is very interesting, full of excitement and even twists and turns. The film is inspired by real events. In addition, it is based on people that many people may not know. Robin Bart and Sanjay Gupta’s scripts are effective. The screenwriters do their best to ensure that the focus remains on the main plot and that the audience is not bored, even for a second. Therefore, the film moves at supersonic speed. Some moments in the film are exceptions, which are worth thinking about. Sanjay Gupta’s dialogue (an additional dialogue by Vihaf Vishal) enhances the film’s public appeal. Some one-way lines will definitely arouse applause in the theater.

Sanjay Gupta’s direction is appropriate. He treated the story in a very dramatic and entertaining way, and tried his best to cater to the lowest denominator. As a result, he used a large number of moments to describe the narrative. The characters of Amartya and Savarka are particularly strong and well fulfilled. On the other hand, some characters did not get well-deserved screen time. Sanjay Gupta should also make the second half, especially the climax sharper. The length of the second half is also a bit problematic.

"Legends of Mumbai" begins with a shocking note, depicting the relationship between politicians and gangs in Mumbai decades ago. This movie did not waste time because it quickly arrived why Amartya became a Don. The scene of Amartya's attack on Gaydonde's men on the railway bridge started unexpectedly, and it will surely be loved by the masses. The second action scene, in prison, pushes the fun forward. The rise of Amartya seems to be too fast, but thank goodness, a lot of things happened in the movie and I couldn't keep the interest. The assassination of Sunil Haitan is a high point. The intermission is at an excellent juncture. After the interval, the cat and mouse chasing between Amartya and Savarkar allows the audience to sit on the edge of the seat, which is also the sudden turn of the story before the climax. Orgasm can be better, but it's worth seeing.

John Abraham is at his best. He looks terrible gangster every inch, he is a fantastic action scene. In several places, he flashed a dimpled smile briefly, which added to the charm of his character. Emran Hashimi is late for the competition, which may upset his fans. But when he entered the narrative, he was swaying. Not only did he act, he also stole his one-way show. His dialogue with the police uniform will cause enthusiasm in the cinema. Mahesh Manjerekar is too shrewd politician. Amole Gupt was great. Prateik Babar looked a little uncomfortable, but managed to leave a mark. Kajal Agwal and Anjana Suhani have a limited range. Titi Raj (Neram: Arjun's wife). Gulshan Grove (Nari Khan) looks stylish and decent. Rohit Bos Roy (Baba) is as good as Amartya's right hand. But his motivation in the second half seemed a bit unconvincing. Samir Sonny, Shaad Randawa (Jagannath), Vivan Parashal (Sadashif) and Hash Sharma are all right. Sunil Shetty (Sada Anna) is good in special appearance. He looks very fashionable.

In such movies, the range of music is limited. Thankfully, there are only two songs in the film. "Danka Baha" is a foot strike. "Shore Machega" was well shot, but it seemed out of place in a period movie. Amal Mohile's background score is dramatic and thrilling.

Shihar Batnagar's film photography is unrepentant. The production designs of Priya Suhas and Sunil Nigwikar and the costumes of Nasheed Shah are real. Anbarif's actions are one of the climaxes of this movie. Nube Silus’ Vfx is good in some places. Bundy Najib's editing could have been clearer in the second half.

In general, "Legend of Mumbai" is a movie worth experiencing on the big screen. It is dotted with moments of mass, applause worthy of dialogue, sudden twists and loads of style. In terms of box office, it will find sponsorship in theaters to bring smiles back to the faces of dealers and exhibitors.

There are good reasons for this.

First of all, John Abraham and Emran Hashimi are popular heroes.

Therefore, when John Abraham lifts the bicycle above his head (The Force) or Emran Hashmi plays his bad boy performance (in the past in Mowbah), the audience must be crazy.

A similar thing is the potential of the Mumbai legend, which has plenty of clapping moments to come to the screen with two heroes.

Another major contributor to this typical Sanjay Gupta movie is Heavy Dialogue Bazi.

From Atish to Kabile, the director has ensured that every dialogue has impact, especially in intense dramatic moments.

Therefore, when John took up the lichen and challenged the local Don (Amor Gupt), while also standing in the power of Mahesh Manjerekar, it was no different.

Whether it's a straight-forward game, a game that shows power, or a verbal attack after a counterattack, verbal language will make you happy.

All of this also means that for those who like the light and brisk film narrative, the legend of Mumbai will be regarded as a rather heavy outing.

This is not a movie where heroes make jokes or fall in love with their women (even Kajal Agarwal, who plays John’s wife, wants him to kill, not call her). It is about establishing Sam Raja and keeping the bondage to it.

No wonder, there are many people who support this gang led by John Abraham.

If his brother (PrateikBabbar) wants to work with him, friends (Rohit Roy, Shaad Randawa) promise to support him.

Sunil Shetty appeared in a comedy and taught them the lesson of "gangster 1-0-1", and Gulshan Grover entered the "Kazka Fazada" mode as a trusted collaboration partner.

At the same time, the bodies were sprayed all over the city.

The narrative is not in Ram Gopal Varma's style, it is naked and tough.

It is in the style rule of the hardcore Sanjay Gupta model.

In this process, sometimes the fluidity of the narrative is affected, because the two clues of the booty dealer take over and the story takes the back seat.

However, it is precisely because of the actor's credit that a solid weight is ensured in the lawsuit.

John Abraham is of great form, as an actor, his fists count, which is believable when he is threatening and terrifying, when he chooses a person and does something with his body. His dialogue progressed very quickly.

Emran Hashimi appears at a break in the movie and makes sure he owns the scene.

His "bad boy" behavior, which was a sign of him in the first ten years of the millennium, has returned to action, even if he makes his presence feel in the second half of the movie.

Mahesh Manjerekar is rock solid in every scene of his.

Amole Gupt brought a smile, sometimes even a way of laughing, to the dialogue in his mouth. He obviously had a lot of fun in this movie.

As for the audience who likes gang drama, and often on this genre on Ott media, there is a lot of fun in the store.

Fortunately, this movie has already been shown in theaters because it has been a big screen experience.
