Live Telecast ’ Review: A mishmash of scenes that is soulless and emotionless

Live Telecast cast: Kajal Aggarwal, Vaibhav Reddy, Kayal Anandhi, Priyanka, Selva, Daniel Annie Pope, Subbu Panchu Arunachalam

Live Telecast director: Venkat Prabhu

What Is the Story About?

No matter how you look at it, horror is a genre that is dead in Tamil movies, except for obvious exceptions, such as the games of Meskin’s Pisasso, Mirindrao’s Awar and Ashwin Saravanan’s , Trying to break genre conventions. If it's another filmmaker, you won't care. The live TV broadcast is provided by Vinkat Prabbe. This is the most hurtful. This is not to say that Vincart Prabbe never made bad movies. Even in those movies, you can see the mark of the filmmaker-Masu Ngira Masiramani come to mind. This is not a great movie. But these moments are deliberate and the ideas are wild.

Vincart Prabbe seemed to have no direction in the live broadcast. None of the scenes in the seven-episode series are registered. Please pay attention to the naming of episodes: introduction, failure, plan, trap, etc. It seems that Vincat Prabbe took individual plots and wrote for them instead of developing a cohesive story. Because, this explains why the scene always has no orders. Even the so-called "horror" part only appeared in the fifth episode, when Jenny (Kajal Agwar) and her crew were filming in a haunted house to broadcast the process to the audience.

In the seven episodes, running for more than 3.5 hours, people can't find a single moment on live TV broadcasting that provides some emotional value. "What happened? This is the only time the audience can sympathize with the character. Not only the actors and the audience, but even the director Vincart Prabbe doesn't seem to know what happened in his debut series.

The live TV broadcast revolves around a TV crew eager for Trp, led by Jennifer Matthew (Kajal Agarwal). She runs a "reality show" called "Dark Story". The format of the show mimics the controversial Tamil talk show Solvateram Unmai, where ordinary people discuss their close family affairs. However, Dark Stories invites people to share their brushes and supernatural activities. Before the audience was invited to the stage, the audience was treated as a clumsy representation of the suffering of the survivors. The host of the show, Aravend (Daniel Anne Pope), has no sympathy for guests who openly recount their worst experiences. He approaches the show with a ray of sunshine and joy, which contradicts the very dark theme of the show.

Jennifer lacks the moral responsibility to promote scientific temperament in the audience, which is her greatest gift. She doesn't feel guilty and strengthens people's superstitions to promote her program ratings. She succeeded, and the dark story is at the top of the Trp list. However, the status of the play was threatened by the newly launched dramatic soap opera, which marked the debut of a famous big screen actress. "Is she unemployed, so much so that she started acting on TV? When soap operas received better ratings than so-called reality shows, Jennifer's lack of accountability reached a new low point. She made her actors heavy. There is a scene where a woman is raped by an invisible force (possibly freed from the Hindi movie "Hawa"). All the hell is scattered because the channels and advertisers are pulling the plug of her program. "Our people There is no taste to appreciate the display of international standards," said Jennifer. They said that ignorance is happiness is not useless. When she was pickled in human ingenuity and stupid fantasy, she got another golden idea. She decided A ghost was captured on tape and broadcast live on her channel. As usual, she continued to implement this plan without careful consideration, putting many innocent lives at risk.

Vincart Prabbe has been by surprise, because he seems to have exhausted his creativity in finishing a horror show. The director’s biggest shortcoming is that he wants to make an extended version of Kanchana, which is only divided into seven episodes. On the contrary, he should have higher goals. His writing lacks discipline and requires the development of dramatic and intense series. In increasing the depth of the role, he has also done hastily. These characters are as superficial as Vincart's thoughts on the web series.

What’s different in  Live Telecast Season 1

It is painful to see the director's lack of understanding of the changes of the times. Vincart's ideas are outdated. It feels like a series made for the tastes and beliefs of a bygone era. Take, for example, how he introduced Selva's police role, AC Guru. The scene intends to show that Guru is an energetic policeman. So, Vincart turned to the oldest trick in the book. He asked Guru to murder three men in cold blood on the suspicion of raping a young girl. It seems quite convenient, evokes a quick emotional response from the audience, and makes the police look powerful and desirable. However, in reality, it shows that the police have no patience to investigate, collect evidence and convict. In other words, he does not intend to legally perform his swearing duties. In a sense, this encounter was to cover up the fact that he was a failed policeman. In light of recent incidents, the atrocities that beautify the police appear to be straightforward offenses and imply a lack of knowledge.

The thing about horror movies now is that all the stories seem to have been told. Now, this is about the quality of "owning", a good movie defined in the genre, but the live TV broadcast seems more like a collection of ordinary moments.

Please note that horror movies usually have a character who has seen ghosts but never believed them? The live TV broadcast of Vincate Prabbe tried to provide satisfaction to see such people believe that with this series of events. Jennifer (Kajal Agwar), the heroine, runs a ghost-seeking TV show called "Dark Story".

Due to an unfortunate plot-seemingly a ripping of the scene from the Hollow Man (2000) Elizabeth Shu-the dark story was taken off the air.

As a last resort, she proposed an idea for a new show: the scene of ghost hunting in the haunted house. When the crew starts shooting live episodes, you know what will happen.

The problem started right from the beginning. More than half of the plot is spent tedious introductions, with characters to introduce yourself on the camera.

Romance and interpersonal equations come into play from the second episode. By the third episode, your idea of entertaining may only be in the substance of the show. Kajal Agwal, who seems to be quite plastic playing Jennifer, began to show promise as she settled down in the role.

You see, Jennifer will go to any degree to ensure that the show gets high scores. It is very interesting to see that a protagonist does not take moral responsibility. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this series is all the attacks on sensationalism by the mainstream media.

Venkat covers many topics, including TRP wars, journalistic insensitivity, lack of social responsibility, and so on.

Humor has also become popular, thanks in large part to the roles of Aravend (Daniel Anne Pop) and Sekar (Vai Baff), who have invested in them with noteworthy performances. Just as things started to improve, the fifth episode proved that Vincart Prabbe had run out of motivation.

The last three episodes are likely to be condensed into two episodes. A police officer suddenly walked in, and another bad introduction scene appeared.

There are also many omissions in the details. For example, the CCTV footage does not seem to be taken with a fixed camera.

Such gunfire killed the suspension of your suspicion. When Sekar (Vaibav) was pushed to the front to save the day, someone tried to surge in the later stage. But all this was too predictable, and the final distortion turned into a damp squid. More frustrations appear in the form of ghostly dull backstory.

Although Vincart is very sensitive to mental health issues, which is admirable, the writing of this story cannot be so.

Except for the theme music, Premji's music has nothing to say. The look and feel of the entire show is a TV series.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that this show, from a man who has accomplished humorous writing like Venkat Prabbe, failed to evoke or even smile.

The live TV broadcast is a testimony, and it is easy to come up with an interesting single lining. However, to make it a fascinating story...

The show started with Jennifer Matthew (aka Jenny) hosting the success party of her show "Dark Story". Some time later, when her show was cancelled, Jenny decided to prove to her employer that she could direct a popular show with the talented crew. They all brainstormed and decided to broadcast live in the haunted house on Shivkrity Hill in Yercaud.

During the live broadcast of their show, the entire TV crew was trapped in a haunted house, and supernatural forces took over them. How Jenny and others escaped from this house formed this story.

It is clear on the screen that this story was written in 2005, because the lawsuits are not wow, they only give you a feeling of déjévu. The seven-episode series has some interesting elements, but it has reached an absurd climax.

In today's world, we have seen everything from supernatural activities to injuries and several other Korean horror movies. Therefore, the jump card in TV broadcast cannot work as expected.

Director Vincart Prabbe did an excellent job of converting the screenplay into a show. Even supporting actors like Vaibaf Reddy, Kayal Anandi and others will get a suitable role arc, which helps the audience understand their mentality. In the initial plot, we see a model of good and evil, which was dominant in the 1990s. Every ghost needs to encounter a god-like spirit to disappear. In this way, live TV broadcasting is like watching a high-tech ghost/Amman movie.

The live TV also mocked a few cliché horror films, but continued to add them to their stories. From the creaking of doors to ghosts walking around behind everyone, everything you see in horror movies is on the show. In addition, the spirit in the live broadcast only knows to invigorate people by strangling them. It does the same thing to everyone in the house.

Aravend (Pope Daniel Anne), who is the anchor of the live show, encountered ghosts in the first few episodes. These sequences are quite ridiculous and fail to evoke the tension of the point of view. Near the climax, everyone except Shekar (Vaibav) was suspended for a few minutes. This scene should make you climb onto the bed, but you laughed.

The live TV broadcast could have been clearer, and the reason for the climax was not so convincing. Kajal Agwal, as the director of horror shows, is perfect in her role. Vaibov played a very good role as the artistic director Shekar, and Kayal Anandi also played a good role as a makeup artist Kalay.

The live TV broadcast is technically sound, because the film photography and editing work very well. Premji Amarron’s music really enhances the overall feel of the web series. In general, live broadcast is just a watch of the passage of time.
