Tuesdays & Fridays Movie Review : A love story with a novel concept and a fresh pair, but doesn’t really warm your heart
What Is the Story About?
Story: Sia and Varun decide to try a new way of dating and only meet two days a week. it's OK?
Commentary: Varun Sarin (Anmol Thakeria Dhillon)is a popular author, his new book is a bestseller, Sia (Jhataleka Malhotra) is a soon to become lawyer. In addition to being young, good-looking, and eager to go, the two also share a sense of insecurity, which stems from a broken and dysfunctional family. Although Thea is still a bit traditional in prospects, for Varun, all relationships have an expiration date. Therefore, when they meet, sparks will fly, but for it to work, they must come up with a strategy to combat the wear and tear of normal relationships. So start their plan to become lovers on Tuesdays and Fridays and friends through the rest of the week.
This is a new concept story and dating calendar that can inspire fearful millennials to fall into love, on an "experimental basis." Screenwriter and director Taranveer Singh used a super strange and urban style canvas to tell his unconventional story from Mumbai, but soon all his actions were transferred to London. Perhaps, trying to make many relationship issues seem more credible. There are too many characters and tracks, competing for space and attention in the limited running time here. Among them, it is Thea’s teenage half-sister who desires to lose her virginity on her 18th birthday, her gay friend pretending to be her ex-boyfriend fooling the world and Varun’s single mother (by Anuradha Patel), a very weak background story. Most of them seemed to flash by, not only removing the focus from the fledgling love story of Sia and varun, but also making it a lot of problems. However, among them,Niki Walia and Parvin Dabas stood out with their experienced performance and extremely progressive trajectory.
The two newcomers made their roles credible with their honest performance. Former Miss India International (2014) Jhataleka Malhotra,, made a hopeful debut, it seems that every gorgeous and independent young lawyer, who is also vulnerable, when it comes to heart issues. Her mature relationship with her single mother (played by Niki Walia)) is heartwarming, and their scenes are one of the highlights of the film. Jhataleka is undoubtedly a notable genius. Anmol Thakeria Dhillon (son of former actress Poonam Dhillon’s ) is also very confident and fits his character very well. He looks fashionable, but he can do more fine-tuning in the emotional scene.
However, for a love story, the music of "Tuesday and Friday" is a huge disappointment. The few songs it owns are all forgetful and randomly placed. Due to these unnecessary sounds and character tracks, after a point, even a short running time is bored.
In general, this is a novel idea, with a fresh and brisk storyline, with its moments. But with more depth and soul, this bi-weekly romantic idea may become a love story in all seasons.
Recently, a millennial romantic comedy of a specific brand has penetrated into Bollywood. These are all prepared to be an update of the epic romance that has been going on in Hindi movies for decades, involving mustard fields, a trip to Europe, and endless desire. On the other hand, these films promise to be more rooted in reality than escapism, in order to reflect the changing priorities of the younger generation and the ten years they have lived in. The usual obstacles to romance here are not external reasons, such as disapproval of parents, arranged marriage situations, or religious faults. On the contrary, they are more internal-emotional burden, commitment phobia, or simply old indecision. But the problem is: Although the packaging is modern, the romance depicted in these movies is often unrealistic and knows nothing about the era in which we live.
Debutante film producer Taranveer Singh’s"Tuesday-Friday" is a model movie. The movie was filmed abroad, and it is a shorthand, suggesting that its universe will be full of protagonists who lead a neatly trimmed Instagram life, and money has never been an issue. The protagonists are Varun (Anmol Dhillon) and Sia (Jhataleka Malhotra), two attractive millennials do not have the title of their mysterious success: he is a "best seller" "Writer", she is a "lawyer", indicating that he has obtained the rights to the film. They are naturally good at what they do, even though work is not a top priority. Their love story itself is accompanied by unnecessary complex issues, mainly around the deep guise of "commitment phobia". Varun and Thea only agreed to be romantic partners on two days of the week: Tuesday and Friday. On the other days of the week, they are just friends. However, their terms and conditions cannot really prevent them from falling in love. This is a movie of two lovers Pine, because they can, not because they have to. In essence, this is a non-story disguised as a love story.
