What Is the Story About?

STORY: Life turns upside down for disgraced IAS officer Chanchal Chauhan when she is taken to a deserted mansion for police questioning. There, she is possessed by a spirit who was wronged and –make no mistake – she will be avenged.

Comment: When the tragedy happened, Ias official Chanchar Johan (Bomi Pederekal) was only a few days away from marrying social activist Shakti Singh (Karan Kapadia). Johan went to jail for the brutal murder of his fiancé. In a not far away world, Minister of Water Resources Ishwar Prasad (Arshad Vassi) appeared on the CBI's radar because of the mysterious disappearance of multiple idols from a famous ancient temple. Johan’s fate is sealed, and Prasad is evading arrest-what is the connection between these two government officials? Why is Johan being questioned in an abandoned, pathetic building that is notorious for its supernatural existence and is often labelled "cursed"? Most importantly, when he arrived at the venue, why did Johan claim to be the incarnation of the ghostly Durgamati, and who is she? Ashok G's Hindi retelling of his 2018 Tamil-Telugu bilingual "Bhaagamathie" is bold, but dated, relevant, but smelly.

Writer and director Ashok G’s ambitious project "Durgamati" riding on horses and off-road vehicles with the theme "good over evil" and "Vox Pop" as an undercurrent trend in this social horror thriller. Unless the first act—seeing women and children flying around and being dragged out of the house by an evil entity—or else, the first 30 minutes are fully devoted to establishing the premise and making the audience fascinated by it. Prerequisite we get, get hooked on us not. First, Bhumi Pednekar, as a frustrated behind-the-scenes bureaucrat, paints a gloomy picture, and the investment of the audience is enough to be curious about her back story. However, once the transformation from this indecent character to the former queen of Fuyu (she kept singing her own hymns, pfft...) changed, Bomi became the bombarded, his The heroism and subsequent predicament make you blink and shudder. Durgamati made a drastic transformation of revenge and redemption, empowerment of women, and political intrigue-red hair, saree cloak.

From the perspective of a horror movie, "Durgamati" is disappointing-appearing faintly at the back of the room, flicking his hair, a terrifying neck from nowhere, a medieval and flat pass. Jack Behoy’s background score made the director’s situation worse—too dramatic and outdated. Now, looking at the storyline from the perspective of a thriller, "Durgamati" is neither here nor there. If there is any difference, it is the sum of all the errors. The world does not pay close attention to a sub-theme: too peripheral, not suitable for our liking. The orgasm is predictable, if not all. Similarly, the comedy is a bit too late-"Gopi, Tumhare Anguer, Kyun Kaap, Lahainhai" extracts cringing audiences in 2020, not a laugh.
